Hi,

If you are visiting here, you must have been here: www.conniescorner.org

Connie's Corner is my third website and it has gone through many changes since 1999.  Or was that 2000.  Idunno, time escapes me at exponential speed!

My mother and grandmother taught me needlework when I was a child.  I was one of those 'sit still and be quiet kids'.  Or rather I was one who could not.  My grandmother started me with crochet and embroidery and my mom let me cut up fabric for doll clothes.  During those excruciating times in school when I though I could burst from boredom, I learned to direct my mind to my next needle project.  I could see complicated embroidery patterns in my head and dreamed of embroidery far beyond my abilities.  I learned to focus my attention on something creative which allowed me to sit still for longer periods of time.

My grandchildren have always had a 'keep still and be quiet bag' that travels with us wherever they go. I'm telling you, it works!  The grandchildrens'  bag includes crayons and paper and workbooks as well as cross stitch and knitting.  Every place we go, there is something for them to do.

Connie's Corner was my grown up version of the whole keep still and be quiet thing. Starting with photo quilts, we moved to photo purses and photo dolls and canvas mounted photos.  At one point, there was a whole network of associates who helped with production.  It was a cool thing.

Then of course as with all intellectual property, the Chinese found out about it and knocked us out of the pricing competition and none of us wanted to work for thirty cents an hour.  True, there were other reasons that kept me from wanting to sit at a sewing for 18 hours a day.

These days, Connie's Corner concentrates on education, training and helping others learn to 'do it themselves'.  http://www.conniescorner.org/doityourself.htm

I am contemplating some changes so keep with us and follow along as topics grow.
